Turn On Your PC Using NFC

Most of the Android phones have NFC – near field connection. This astounds some of the wireless connection available like infrared or even bluetooth. Currently, it is mainly used for transferring files from a mobile phone to another mobile phone or even share screens to the nearby TV or computer. But wouldn’t it be nice if you can turn off the AC, change the channels in your television or even turn on your computer?

Before you celebrate of having an NFC-enabled mobile phone  according Tim, check your LAN of your PC if it accepts Wake on LAN packages first. If you are running Windows 7, go to Network Center and choose Change Adapters Settings. Choose the network adapter that is connected to the hardwire. Right-click on it and click Properties.

Also, you need to download some applications in Playstore:
WoL (Wake on LAN)
NFC Task Launcher
– an NFC equipped phone (in my case a Nexus 4).
– NFC tags (i used NTAG203’s)
-WoL Wake On Lan Play Store
-Tasker Play Store
-NFC Task Launcher Play Store

Open a command prompt. Type ipconfig /all and write down all the required details from your Ethernet card such as the IP address and MAC address.
ipconfig /all

After downloading Wake on LAN, open it on your phone. Add a new configuration.
Wake On LAN

Choose the name of the configuration you want to choose. Make sure that is easy to remember because you are going to need it later. Fill in the details of the IP and MAC addresses. Check Send as Broadcast in case that the IP address changes. Save it.
WOL Configuration

Shut-down your PC to test that you have correctly configured WOL. Now, we have to configure your NFC, that’s why I asked you to download Tasker.

Open Tasker and create a new task. Name it “Wake PC”. Add a new action to this and select the plugin needed: choose the correct PC in Wake on LAN.

New Mobo

Im back!

At first I thought the power supply is the problem. But when I checked the motherboard, I saw the LED so it means that its delivering power, just the motherboard cant distribute it. I couldnt find the same motherboard that I used to have, so I chose the cheaper. Heheh

Now, im back 😀

I went to Greenhills with Gus, Kaz and Chime yesterday to buy some clothes that we can wear tonight. Its our Christmas Party. We have to wear white. I could still remember that eTelecare’s theme last year was also white. Hehe. I was just planning to wear a plain white Lacoste polo shirt but looking around, they dared me to spell QUEER on the party. Hahaha.

Just see the pictures :D. And by the way, I bought a new Kodak V803 camera! Im so excited 😀

PC Diagnosis

Remember that I posted that when I tested my RAM using Memtestx86 it showed so many errors. After swapping the memory in each slots, I tested each one and both in the slots, now it did not show any error at all, to the last random test.

Then while I was reinstalling Windows XP SP2, in the middle of the process, it asked for certain files, I looked into the CD and there were a deep scratch onto it. Good thing I have another intaller, which in XP Gold Edition, and I ordered SP2 CD patch from Microsoft before.

While I was booting from the CD, it could not read any media. And the CD works in my laptop. I checked the BIOS and its reading an unfamiliar device, I tried resetting the ESCD and the settings already, still not working. I even tried to remove all non-essential expansion card. GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

I used the slave connector on the PATA IDE cable, and set the jumper to master and replugged the cable into the secondary slot.

It worked!

Now, I am installing the XP Gold, and I hope I wont be receiving nor experiencing any error at all!

BSOD Galore!

Windows NT Err. Msg: Stop 0x00000019 in NTFS

And my computer just has its warranty expired. And when I ran the Memtextx86, it showed so many errors in the RAM. I havent tried eliminating which of the RAM cards is busted because I have two 512mb RAMS. And surprisingly, the 512 PC 533 is still 1,900+ pesos!!!!!
